iPhone Bluetooth stack to be hacked?

Apparently Chinese developers are working on hacking the iPhone bluetooth stack - essentially meaning file transfers via bluetooth! This is also coming very soon!

Presently, the iPhone only allows you to use bluetooth as a headpiece (i.e. to transmit audio to a car, or a bluetooth headset). Basically Apple just didn’t bother building the necessary protocols.

That’s very inconvenient when you want to receive photos or songs from your friend’s camera phone if he/she does not want to send it through email.

It’s going to be called BlueSn0w (a clear tribute to the 3G iPhone Unlocking app ;-). It’s still in early alpha stage.

We cannot wait for this here at iPhoneUnlockUK, and obviously will be advising our customers how to install it, and how to use it.

The iPhone just gets better and better, doesn’t it?

iPhone 3G software unlock

Just a brief post to inform our customers that the iPhone 3G full software unlock is now ready - works with all 3G iPhones even those who have upgraded to the latest 2.2 update from Apple.

Those of you who have already purchased an iPhone 3G Unlocking Solution will receive instructions on how to install this software free of charge. It negates the need for the piggyback sim cards (so no more roaming issues).

Happy XMAS and Prosperous 2009 everyone! Go and purchase those iPhone 3Gs as presents from Carphone Warehouse or o2.

Our iPhone 3G Unlocking Solution comes with full support for the 3G Unlocking Tool “Yellowsn0w”, produced by the Dev Team.

Apple releases iPhone 2.2 and iTunes 8.0.2 - important information

Its that time of year again. Apple at midnight released iPhone update 2.2:

  • Enhancements to maps - Google street view, public transport and walking directions e.g. London Underground
  • Enhancements to Mail
  • Enhancements to Safari
  • Direct download of podcasts over the air from iTunes application
  • Decrease in call dropping
  • Improved quality of visual voicemail
  • Preferences to turn off/on auto correction in Keyboard settings

iPhone 3G users

If you are running an iPhone 3G with our sim solution, you will be able to update your iPhone 3G to 2.2 using OUR firmware, rather than Apple’s, which is located in our unlocking area and continue to use your piggyback sim.

Customers running piggyback sims other than our own can indeed purchase our software for £19.99 which will enable them to benefit from the ability to update their iPhones using our service, as our custom restore images work with ALL piggyback sims.

If you have already upgraded your iPhone to 2.2 (and hence updated your baseband), don’t worry, our piggyback will still work, but it will require re-programming at either our London or Birmingham store (just post the sim back to us with a stamped addressed return envelope and we will do it free of charge). Also the chances of a software unlock in the near future have been reduced for you.

iPhone 2G users

If you are already running our version 2.x software on an unlocked 2G iPhone, simply update within iTunes to enjoy these great features, and then run our new unlocking tool (on either Windows or Mac, released Sunday 23rd November) to install Cydia and jailbreak your iPhone.

Regarding iTunes 8.0.2 - this is fine to update to on both Macintosh and PC.

Scam Websites

We have been alerted by lots of our customers to the following websites:

  • www.appleuk.net (selling ‘unlocked 3G iPhones’ for £200 - you won’t see your money, or an iPhone, again!)
  • www.iphone-3g-99.info (selling sim free 3G iPhones for £99 - again, a total scam)
  • unlock-iphone-scams.blogspot.com purports to be a person who was disatisfied with a couple of iphone unlocking solutions - and yet is spending $150 a day on google advertising, and points to a website called www.scamadvisoryboard.com which has a ‘review’ of some iphone unlocking sites (not ours) and one of them is www.easyiphoneunlocking.com which he gives a very commendable 9/10. Haha. Do not be fooled. They are all owned by the same person in the United States, and again come with no support and charge completely over the odds for free software.

These claim to be offer the iPhone 3G unlock and also unlock version 2.0 iPhones - they CANNOT NOR will they offer support. They merely provide you with a link to ‘purchase’ some free software and nothing more. You can already get this software for free without support, don’t bother paying for it - just ask us, we’ll happily give you details.

Please be aware of these websites and if in doubt, ask us.

If you have been cheated by any website in the past, if you send us your proof of purchase email and a quick note to sales@iphoneunlockuk.com we will give you a half price subscription to our support website.
