Scam Websites
We have been alerted by a couple of our customers to the following websites: www.unlocksiphone.com and www.iphoneunlocking.org.uk
These claim to be able to offer the iPhone 3G and also version 2.0 iPhones - they CANNOT. They merely provide you with a link to purchase and several customers have simply been locked out of their phones and you will need to come back and use our software.
Please beware of these websites and if in doubt, ask us.
If you have been cheated by any website in the past, if you send us your proof of purchase email and a quick note to sales@iphoneunlockuk.com we will give you a half price subscription to our website.
3G iPhone
Apple has announced (not expectedly!) the new 3G iPhone, which will be available in the UK from 11th July, still tied to the o2 network.This time around, you will need to sign a contract in store if you want to get hold of the phone very cheaply (free if you take out the largest contract for instance), but of course you’ll be tied into a contract.
HOWEVER, o2 will also sell a Pay as You Go version of the iPhone for the same price as the old one (£269) which we will be able to unlock shortly after the iPhones release for use on other networks - this is the version our customers should purchase as they won’t need to be tied into the expensive contract and will continue to be able to use the network of their choice.
Should I upgrade to the new iPhone 3G
The difference between the old iPhone running iPhone 2.0 software and the new 3G one is purely cellular data speeds and GPS - everything else is identical - the applications they support, the capacities on offer - so if you’re not a really heavy surfer on the go then there is really no need to go through the expense of upgrading right now, we’d recommend holding off until a 32GB version of the 3G iPhone is available before considering an upgrade.
Of course that shiny new gadget may be impossible to resist but at least hang on until our software is compatible as the iPhone 3G has a new bootloader, we confirmed this in San Francisco at the keynote.
